Must-know things about Shopify integration

Note 1: If you get paid via Shopify payments provider only, then you just need to connect your Shopify store to Synder in order to synchronize all live data automatically or import and sync your historical transactions

Note 2: Shopify API allows to pull in orders processed through Shopify Payments into Synder only when the corresponding payout is generated in Shopify. So once the payout is ready on Shopify end, Synder will automatically import and sync all the related orders included into this payout.

Note 3: If your Shopify store accepts payments via different providers (e.g. PayPal, Stripe, etc.) you need to connect both Shopify, and the payment gateway integrated with it, to Synder, thus the software will recognize all the order and payment details and record them in your accounting system (QuickBooks or Xero) to keep your books accurate and up-to-date. Just follow the already familiar steps:

  1. Switch to the needed Organization in the top-left corner of the Synder page.
  2. Navigate to Settings on the left-side menu.
  3. In the Payment platforms section click Add payment platform

Set up Shopify Other Orders synchronization

To record Other orders from Shopify in your QuickBooks/Xero company (please, pay attention that initially Synder is not able to “detect” them) you will need to create the additional settings for Other Orders in Synder following these simple steps:

  1. Switch to the needed Organization in the top-left corner of the Synder page.
  2. Navigate to the Settings tab on the left-side menu.
  3. Click the Configure button near your Shopify in the Payment platforms section.
  1. Select the Other Order type from the Create additional settings dropdown.
  1. Select the Shopify Other Order bank account from the dropdown in the Sales tab.
  1. Click Update to save the changes. 

Note 1: Shopify Other Order bank account is a Clearing account that Synder will automatically create to reflect synced data in your QuickBooks/Xero company.

Note 2: Other orders are to be deposited to the separate Clearing account (Shopify Other Order bank account) as there are no payouts for such orders in your Shopify, that is why you will need to account for them separately. You can change the account for Other Orders in the Synder settings if needed, however, if you are hesitating we would recommend consulting with your accountant on what is the best way for you to manage such transactions.

How to sync Shopify Other Orders

Once you set up the additional settings for Other Orders, Synder will be able to “detect” such orders and synchronize them to your QuickBooks/Xero. Use the Import historical data feature to pull your historical Shopify orders into Synder or make sure the Auto-sync option is enabled so that Synder can synchronize newly created orders.
